Making Reading More Musical – A Note from Ms. Cassie

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know that I wear many hats—wife, mom, children’s author, librarian, early literacy advocate, and lifelong lover of a good sing-along. For more years than I can count, I’ve had the joy of helping families and educators create that first spark of reading magic—the kind that begins with a song, a giggle, and a shared story.

For a few years, this little corner of the internet has become a reflection of everything I care about: helping children fall in love with books, empowering adults to feel confident reading and singing with them, and celebrating the simple, joyful ways we learn together.

Through my work, I’ve learned that literacy isn’t built with flashcards or drills—it’s built in the everyday moments we share. When a child claps along to a rhyme, makes up their own silly song, or proudly “reads” a picture book from memory, that’s real learning in action. Those are the moments I want to help nurture.

📚 What I Offer
I write and illustrate musical picture books and create coordinating activity and song packs available on Teachers Pay Teachers, designed to support the five early literacy practices: Read, Write, Talk, Sing, and Play.

Each resource—whether a singable counting book like Five Little Hedgehogs, a playful rhyme like Five Rowdy Reindeer, or a hands-on activity pack—helps teachers and families build literacy through fun, rhythm, and connection.

🎶 Why “Make Reading More Musical”?
Because music makes stories come alive. When we sing with children, we slow down words, emphasize sounds, and build memory in ways that make early reading stick. More importantly—it makes learning joyful.

💛 What’s Next
For now, I’ll be taking a pause from blog posts to focus on creating new books and early literacy materials (and to spend time with my family!).

You’ll still find new printable packs, songs, and seasonal activities in my Teachers Pay Teachers store, my new and existing books on Amazon and I’ll keep sharing early literacy tips and book updates on Instagram and Facebook.

If you’ve found something here that helped you share the joy of reading with a child—thank you. That means the world to me.

Keep singing, keep reading, and keep making every storytime magical.
