Let's Get Techie

Well first off, I started this post not knowing for certain if it is "techie" or "techy" or "tekky" *sigh*  The internet wasn't much help.  I thought ie looked better, so I went with it, deciding kky was totally out of it because it looked too Star Trek-ish.  I mean, I am a Trekkie, but that's WHY I'm like "no, don't use kky".

In any case, while scrolling through my books, I noticed that several have a space or tech feel.  6 to be exact.  That seems like a rather high number.  I'm horrible with percentages, but it's 6 out of 40, which is like 1/6th, right?  Ooo, another 6.  Well, maybe closer to 1/7th since 6*7 is 42... the answer to life the universe and everything.  OH MY GOSH!  More space-techie stuff!!!  It's a sign!!!   I needed to have 6 out of 40 titles be science techie stuff.  It was predestined or something.  And I had to write about them in this blog because then I would discover how I needed to write those books.  They need to be in the universe.

Now I'm just a bit freaked out and excited at the same time.

Check them out.  The Bingo titles all come with activities at the end.  The Early Literacy Exploration has all sorts of things to do and includes an original story as well.  The book focuses on the five early literacy practices.  The other two books are just plan fun.

Whew.  I need to go now and gaze at the stars.

Little Farm Storytime

My new storytime video is up on YouTube!  It is a bit longer than the last one because I am using one of my Early Literacy Exploration books and talking about all five of the early literacy practices.   Check it out and let me know what you think!

Preparing for my first author visit

A friend of mine told me about an author event in June and guess who is going?!  That's right, me!  I'm actually a bit nervous about the whole thing and am trying to thoroughly plan what I need and how to prepare.

My theme is a bit funky!  I went with 70s colors.  A nice stretchy purple table cover with a flower power tapestry to lay over the top for a pop of color.  I used Canva Pro to make my sign and plan on buy a frame to hold the sign, bookmark holders and sticker baskets from the dollar store.

I'm just not ready to invest a lot of money!  It will come, but I am easing into all of this rather slowly.

Oh, on a side note, I am buying the stickers (reading themed) from Amazon.  I designed the bookmarks myself using Canva Pro and will have them printed off via Vistaprint.

I am also going to purchase plate holders to display some books.  I looked at book displays and really the plate holders are cheaper and just as nice.  I am holding off though in case I find something that will work at the dollar store.  When I make that trip, I'll be sure to post about what I found to use!
