Marketing a Children's Picture Book on Social Media

Marketing a children's picture book on social media requires a thoughtful plan that targets the right audience and engages them effectively. It is not easy!  You need to be prepared to put in some work.  Remember, you will only get out of it what you put into it.  Here are some ideas you can refer to for promoting your book on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok:

1. Define Your Goals:

  • Start by setting clear, measurable goals. Do you want to increase book sales, gain more followers, or raise awareness about your book? Define your primary objectives.

2. Know Your Audience:

  • Understand your target audience - parents, caregivers, teachers, and young readers. Know their interests, pain points, and what they look for in children's books.

3. Create Engaging Content:

  • Develop captivating visuals and content that reflect the themes and characters of your book. Create eye-catching graphics and images.

4. Plan Your Content Calendar:

  • Develop a content calendar that outlines what you'll post on each platform and when. This should include a mix of promotional content, behind-the-scenes insights, and engaging activities related to your book.

5. Leverage Facebook:

  • Set Up a Facebook Page: Create a dedicated Facebook Page for your book or author persona. Optimize your profile and cover photos.
  • Share Regular Updates: Post about your book's progress, launch events, and relevant news in the children's book world.
  • Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments, questions, and messages in a timely manner. Encourage discussions and interactions.

6. Utilize Instagram:

  • Create an Instagram Business Profile: This will provide you with valuable insights and contact options.
  • Share Visual Stories: Use Instagram's visual appeal to showcase your book's illustrations, characters, and your author journey.
  • Engage with Stories: Post Stories regularly, featuring sneak peeks, polls, and interactive content.
  • Use Hashtags: Research and include relevant and popular hashtags in your posts to increase discoverability.

7. Embrace TikTok:

  • Create Fun and Short Videos: TikTok is all about short, engaging videos. Create content that relates to your book's themes, characters, or your journey as an author.
  • Leverage Trends: Participate in popular TikTok challenges or trends to reach a broader audience.
  • Engage with Your Audience: Respond to comments, use duets and stitches to interact with other users' content, and encourage user-generated content related to your book.

8. Paid Advertising:

  • Consider running paid advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram. These platforms offer highly targeted advertising options, ensuring your content reaches the right audience.

9. Collaborations and Influencers:

  • Partner with parenting influencers or children's book bloggers who can review your book or promote it to their followers.

10. Contests and Giveaways:

  • Host contests and giveaways with your book as a prize. This can generate buzz and encourage user-generated content.

11. Measure and Adjust:

  • Regularly analyze the performance of your social media campaigns using insights and analytics. Adjust your strategy based on what works best for your audience.

12. Cross-Promotion:

  • Promote your social media channels within your book, on your author website, and through email newsletters to encourage readers to connect with you on these platforms.

Remember that building a presence and generating significant results on social media takes time. Consistency and engagement are key. Tailor your plan based on the platform's unique characteristics, and always prioritize creating content that resonates with your target audience.

Winter Whimsy in Hartland

Oh my goodness, it is already December 16th!  My husband's birthday and a week away from Christmas.  I am losing December fast, though trying to enjoy every second of it.

On the 9th I had a craft fair in Hartland.  It was so much fun!  Again my daughter came with me in her adorable fox hat.  It is always so heartwarming to hear people talk about how much they like your books!

This event was HUGE!  There were over 200 vendors.  I saw things I had never seen before.  AND there were actually two other authors. Maybe the word is starting to get out - craft fairs can be a fun way to market you books!

I am currently debating if I want to continue with shows or not.  I love them, but the paperwork is a pain in the tushy!  I'll think about it some more.

New bear books for winter

I can't believe I haven't written about my bear books!  Five Brown Bears and Five Fuzzy Polar Bears came out for Thanksgiving.  They are fun counting books with cute rhymes that both feather adorable bears!

I am pretty bad advertising my own books!  But here they are!  Catchy enough that young children will pick up on the rhymes and be able to read along with the book in no time reinforcing their confidence in print awareness!

Creating videos with sneak peaks into the books takes a bit of time, but I am working on them!  They are both free with Kindle Unlimited!
