Singing to Learn: Why Music-Based Activities Work
I’ve started creating printable, musical packs you can use with your preschoolers or toddlers at storytime, in the classroom, or at home. So far, I’ve released two worksheet packs and two song packs through Teachers Pay Teachers:
Five Little Ducks – A classic countdown song with printable ducks, mama duck, lyrics, and a tip sheet for storytime fun.
A-P-P-L-E – A fall twist on the B-I-N-G-O format! This set includes red letters, apples with bites, and a lyric sheet. Kids clap or say “crunch” as they remove letters one by one.
Each song pack is easy to prep and use with a felt board, magnet board, or even a cookie sheet and fridge magnets. I include suggestions for extending the learning with letter recognition, counting, memory games, and more.
More themed songs are coming soon (holiday versions, alphabet rhymes, and more)—all designed to support early literacy through joyful, musical play.
Let’s make reading more musical—one storytime at a time.
